Skin Boosters FAQs

Everything you need to know before your treatment
Skin boosters are an excellent treatment for improving skin hydration, texture and overall skin quality. They work from within to leave your skin looking healthier, smoother and more radiant.
Below are answers to the questions I am asked most often before treatment. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

What are skin boosters?
Skin boosters are injectable treatments containing hyaluronic acid that deeply hydrate the skin and improve overall skin quality.
Unlike dermal fillers, they do not add volume or change facial features. Instead, they improve hydration, elasticity and skin texture from within.

What skin concerns can skin boosters improve?
Skin boosters may help improve:

  • Dehydrated skin

  • Fine lines

  • Dull or tired-looking skin

  • Uneven skin texture

  • Loss of elasticity

  • Crepey skin

  • Overall skin quality

What areas can be treated?
Skin boosters can be used on:

  • Face

  • Neck

  • Décolletage

  • Hands

Treatment recommendations will always be tailored to your individual concerns during your consultation.

How many treatments will I need?
For the best results, a course of 2–3 treatments is usually recommended, spaced approximately 3–4 weeks apart.
Maintenance treatments every 6–12 months may be recommended depending on your skin and treatment goals.

When will I see results?
Many clients notice an improvement in hydration and skin radiance within the first couple of weeks.
Results continue to improve as the skin becomes better hydrated and collagen production is stimulated.

How long do the results last?
Results vary between individuals but typically last around 6–9 months, depending on the product used, your lifestyle and your skin condition.

Do skin boosters add volume?
No.
Skin boosters are designed to improve skin quality rather than add volume or alter facial shape.
The result is healthier, fresher and more hydrated skin while maintaining a completely natural appearance.

Does the treatment hurt?
Most clients find treatment very comfortable.
A topical numbing cream can be applied where appropriate to maximise comfort.

Is there any downtime?
Downtime is minimal.
You may experience:

  • Mild redness

  • Small injection bumps

  • Swelling

  • Tenderness

  • Mild bruising

These effects usually settle within a few days.

How long does the appointment take?
Appointments usually take around 30–45 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

Is a consultation required?
Yes.
Every client receives a comprehensive consultation before treatment. This includes discussing your concerns, reviewing your medical history, assessing your skin and ensuring treatment is appropriate for your goals.

Can I have treatment at my consultation?
In many cases, yes.
If you are medically suitable and wish to proceed, treatment can often be carried out on the same day following your consultation.

Who is not suitable for skin boosters?
Treatment may not be suitable if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Have an active skin infection

  • Have certain allergies to the product

  • Have certain medical conditions

  • Are medically unsuitable following consultation

Suitability is always assessed before treatment.

What should I avoid after treatment?
For the first 24–48 hours, avoid:

  • Heavy exercise

  • Saunas and steam rooms

  • Swimming

  • Excessive heat

  • Alcohol

  • Touching or rubbing the treated area

  • Makeup for several hours where advised

You should also wear SPF daily and follow your aftercare advice.

Are skin boosters safe?
When carried out by a qualified medical professional using approved products, skin boosters have an excellent safety profile.
As with any injectable treatment, potential risks and side effects will always be discussed before treatment.

What's the difference between skin boosters and dermal fillers?
Although both contain hyaluronic acid, they have different purposes.
Dermal fillers restore volume, define facial features and enhance facial contours.
Skin boosters focus on improving hydration, skin texture, elasticity and overall skin quality without adding volume.

What's the difference between skin boosters and polynucleotides?
Skin boosters primarily improve hydration using hyaluronic acid.
Polynucleotides work differently by stimulating your skin's natural repair processes and supporting collagen production.
Both treatments improve skin quality but may be recommended for different concerns.

Will I still look natural?
Absolutely.
Skin boosters are designed to enhance your skin's natural health and radiance without changing your facial features.
The result is refreshed, hydrated and naturally glowing skin.
