Chemical Peel FAQs
Everything you need to know before your treatment
Chemical peels are an effective skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve skin texture, tone and overall skin health. They can help address a wide range of skin concerns, from acne and pigmentation to fine lines and dull skin.
Below are answers to the questions I am asked most often before treatment. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a professional skin treatment that uses carefully selected acids to exfoliate and stimulate skin renewal.
By encouraging the skin's natural regeneration process, chemical peels can improve skin texture, brighten the complexion and support collagen production, resulting in healthier, smoother and more radiant skin.
What skin concerns can chemical peels improve?
Chemical peels may help improve:
-
Acne and congested skin
-
Acne scarring
-
Fine lines and wrinkles
-
Pigmentation
-
Sun damage
-
Age spots
-
Uneven skin tone
-
Enlarged pores
-
Dull or tired-looking skin
-
Overall skin texture
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments depends on your individual skin concerns and desired results.
Some clients notice visible improvements after just one treatment, while others achieve the best results with a course of 3–6 treatments, usually spaced 2–4 weeks apart.
Your personalised treatment plan will be discussed during your consultation.
When will I see results?
Many clients notice brighter, smoother and more radiant skin within a few days.
Results continue to improve over the following weeks as your skin naturally renews itself and collagen production is stimulated.
Will my skin peel?
Not always.
Some clients experience light flaking or peeling, while others notice very little or no visible peeling.
The amount of peeling depends on the type of peel used, your skin type and your individual skin response.
Visible peeling is not an indication of how effective your treatment has been.
Does the treatment hurt?
Most clients describe the treatment as causing a mild tingling or warming sensation.
Professional chemical peels are generally very well tolerated and any discomfort usually settles quickly.
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is usually minimal, particularly with modern professional chemical peels.
Following treatment you may experience:
-
Mild redness
-
Tightness
-
Dryness
-
Light flaking or peeling
Most clients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately after treatment.
