Hair Restoration FAQs

Everything you need to know before your treatment

Hair thinning and hair loss can affect both men and women, impacting confidence and self-esteem. At Natalie Pillai Aesthetics, I offer regenerative hair restoration treatments designed to support healthier hair growth and improve overall scalp health.

Below are answers to the questions I am asked most often before treatment. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

What is hair restoration?

Hair restoration is a non-surgical treatment designed to support healthier hair growth by stimulating the hair follicles and improving the condition of the scalp.

Depending on your individual needs, your treatment plan may include regenerative therapies such as PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) or exosomes.

What causes hair loss?

Hair thinning and hair loss can occur for many reasons, including:

  • Genetics

  • Hormonal changes

  • Stress

  • Ageing

  • Certain medical conditions

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Some medications

  • Pregnancy and menopause

During your consultation, we will discuss your concerns and whether further medical assessment may be appropriate.

Am I suitable for hair restoration?

Hair restoration is most effective when there are still active hair follicles present.

Suitability depends on the cause and extent of your hair loss and will be assessed during your consultation.

What treatments are available?

Depending on your individual concerns, treatment options may include:

  • PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

  • Exosome therapy

The most appropriate treatment will be recommended following your consultation.

How many treatments will I need?

Most clients benefit from a course of 3–6 treatments, depending on the treatment selected and the extent of hair thinning.

Maintenance treatments may also be recommended to help maintain your results.

When will I see results?

Hair restoration is a gradual process.

Some clients begin noticing improvements after 2–3 months, with continued improvements over the following months.

Hair grows in cycles, so patience and consistency are important.

Are the results permanent?

Hair restoration treatments help improve the health of existing hair follicles, but they do not stop the underlying causes of hair loss.

Maintenance treatments may be recommended to help maintain your results.

Does the treatment hurt?

Most clients find treatment very manageable.

Depending on the treatment being performed, you may experience some mild discomfort during the procedure, but this is generally well tolerated.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is usually minimal.

You may experience:

  • Mild redness

  • Tenderness

  • Slight swelling

  • Temporary sensitivity of the scalp

These effects usually settle within a few days.

How long does the appointment take?

Appointments usually take between 45–60 minutes, depending on the treatment being performed.

Is a consultation required?

Yes.

Every client receives a comprehensive consultation before treatment. This includes reviewing your medical history, discussing your concerns, assessing your scalp and determining whether hair restoration is appropriate for you.

Can I have treatment at my consultation?

In many cases, yes.

If you are medically suitable and wish to proceed, treatment can often be carried out during the same appointment.

Who is not suitable for treatment?

Hair restoration may not be suitable if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Have an active scalp infection

  • Have certain medical conditions

  • Are medically unsuitable following consultation

Suitability will always be assessed before treatment.

What should I avoid after treatment?

For the first 24–48 hours, avoid:

  • Heavy exercise

  • Swimming

  • Saunas and steam rooms

  • Washing your hair (unless advised otherwise)

  • Hair dye or harsh chemical treatments

  • Excessive sun exposure

You will receive full aftercare instructions following your treatment.

Is hair restoration safe?

When performed by a qualified medical professional using high-quality products and following a full consultation, hair restoration treatments have an excellent safety profile.

As with any medical or aesthetic procedure, potential risks and side effects will always be discussed before treatment.

Will my hair grow back completely?

Results vary from person to person.

The aim of treatment is to improve the health of the scalp, support existing hair follicles and encourage healthier hair growth. The extent of improvement depends on factors such as the cause of hair loss, how long it has been present and your body's individual response to treatment.
